Mel Brooks is still the undisputed King of Farce. This movie is still the leading exponent of truly outrageous farce. With his fabulous cast (Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman and Cleavon Little, Brooks hit upon every prejudice, foible and behavior of the '70s, and made mincemeat of them. Nothing subtle about it, but that's the point of farce. A classic to own.

I've seen a few Mel Brooks movies, so I'm a bit familiar with his style. It's always silly, but in a way that works. Blazing Saddles is no exception. It's about as funny as Robin Hood Men in Tights, which is a good thing, but it's really nasty in a lot of places, especially with regards to racism. Still, Blazing Saddles probably does paint an accurate picture of how harsh racism was back in the late 1800's, even though I'm sure that's not what Mel Brooks was aiming for when he donned the jacket with "GOV" written on the back and crossed his eyes as he prepared for his small role here.

What a crazy movie, seen it so many times but I still bought the DVD. But now that I have it I havent even taken it out of the dvd. how ironic.

Racism, sexism. Every ism thrown together so as to almost induce vomiting. I heard before watching that this movie was "politically incorrect". That is not the half of it! This is clearly only meant for the enjoyment of white men who have no sense of social equality or for the brainless of any race or sex, i.e. the kind of people who enjoy watching Family Guy. If you want a silly but clever Western spoof, watch the Paleface

Although there are many designs, don't expect much from one specific tribe. As I was looking for Cherokee designs to inspire me, there wasn't much to look at. Overall I am content with the purchase. Seeing the other styles was still interesting to me.

A great many Indian motifs. I will be using a few of them. Good book! Perhaps some larger designs next time.

I was looking for american indian designs for beading patterns but this book is better suited for paper clipart. There is no CD so you have to scan the design first or use the design right out of the book. For the price I was disappointed. No one really uses one time use anymore. Designs are too small to use in many applications. A CD would be better.

I would recommend this clip art book to anyone and everyone. The designs were clear as were the instructions. It has a variety of designs and listed the tribe that the designs come from. This enables the reader/artist to render correct designs for the area of art they are creating. With the list of the tribe, etc it will allow for accuracy when creating a gourd or other artwork.

This book is wonderful because the motifs are available for you to use as you wish! I bought this after reading a review of another book that everything was copyrighted and I wanted non-copyrighted motifs. All the pages are black and white, loaded with Native American Motifs. Each motif has the name and tribe so if you make something to sell, you will know which tribe to use on your labels/ads. Reminds me of the art books we used in the 1980's for newspaper ad clip-art before the use of computers. No problem about the sizes if you have access to a copier. Happy to add this to my collection of art books!

This book was a bit of a disappointment. There is some instruction for doing beadwork, but the print is in a very small font--making it difficult to read. The only color pictures are on the front and back covers--using both sides of the cover. All charts are in black and white. The markings in the charts are rather light, making them difficult to see. The patterns are for loom or square stitch and applique only. The book does not do justice to the rich heritage of Native American art and the great diversity in their use of beadwork.

I have been beading on garments and needed more patterns. This book had several actual beading patterns as well as many applique patterns. It was a nice companion book to my native american beading pattern library.

This book has a lot of information for the traditional beader. Hope to use it took make regalia. The transaction was easy and the shipper was very fast.

Very nice. Displays full size patterns for beading. It had designs that I wasn't familiar with. Good Find for beginner to immediate beaders.

This book is loaded with patterns. They are laid out very well and easy to follow. It is not a technique book. One improvement would be that small pictures of the finished products would have helped with choosing patterns.

I can only add to the other reviewers statement about seeing items and patterns before there was "authentic indian crafts as sold on Ebay". There is a wonderful section (several pages) that go over the beading patterns and what they represent when woven onto an item (by Nation) such as buffalo, wolves, rabbit tracks ect. I found that the best part of the book. Craft history buffs will love the information on historical beading and bead trade snippets. For the price you can't go wrong with this one.

originally published in 1919, this is a good, if very brief, basic reference. its age is a plus--the illustrations are of items that had, on the whole, not yet been influenced by tourist trade.there's a very short section on quillwork technique; a wonderful old photo of traditionally dressed blackfoot women, unfortunately without a date; and a section that isolates the components of beadwork designs, a benefit for those creating their own work.most of the few illustrations are from nations usually underrepresented--including assiniboin and arapaho.all in all, a worthwhile supplement to other, more comprehensive books.
